About VersaWell, Inc. and the UriGent Men’s Portable Bedside Urinal

VersaWell, Inc. is an emerging healthcare company created by Eric Ankerud and Dave Purcell, both of whom have proven track records of building and commercializing successful businesses. VersaWell is dedicated to helping those who are at risk of injury from falling by providing products that mitigate that risk and improve safety for those who have medical conditions like Nocturia (frequent urination at night) or balance disorders. The idea for the portable urinal came about when inventor, Dave Purcell, who in his eighties has Nocturia and is on blood pressure meds that make him dizzy when arising from sleep. He needed something to stabilize himself and knew he was at risk of falling when going to the bathroom many times during a single night. So, he had the idea to eliminate that risk by creating a bedside urinal. Dave found that it worked so well for him that he wanted to make it available to men everywhere. He researched statistics, those indicated that the problem was so common that most people after age 65 had this issue to some degree.
The UriGent Bedside Urinal is intended for men who can stand at the bedside and benefit from added stability. The product features a four-wheeled platform and ergonomically positioned handles to support users who experience nocturia, or frequent nighttime urination, balance disorders, prostate-related challenges, and other medical conditions that increase fall risk. By enabling safer, supported use at the bedside, this product helps reduce the need to walk to the bathroom at night, which is one of the most common scenarios for falls.
The UriGent Men’s Portable Bedside Urinal will be VersaWell’s initial product offering, with planned enhancements that include a foldable version and future diagnostic capabilities for urine testing, an important tool in health assessment and patient monitoring.
